Behind the Scenes: Running a Family Pickleball Paddle Business in Texas

Quick Shot Paddles isn't a brand that licenses its name to a factory. It's a family. The same people who designed the paddle, wrote the firmware for the NFC chip, built the app, and cut the carbon fiber are the ones who answer your support emails and pack your shipment.

The Team

Quick Shot is built by the Jimenez family in Texas. Each member brings a different skill set to the table:

Oscar Jimenez Carreno leads marketing and product testing. He's the one making sure every paddle feels right before it gets a name and a price. His background in product design means nothing ships without meeting a standard that most brands don't even set.

Oscar Jimenez Enero is the lead engineer and designer. He built the CNC setup, designed the paddle molds, and engineered the edge construction process. When you watch our build process videos, his hands are the ones you see working.

Marcos Jimenez Enero handles all technology — the website you're reading this on, the QS Connect app, the NFC firmware, the Shopify integration, and the backend infrastructure. When you tap your paddle and see your profile load, that's Marcos's code running.

The Workshop

Our workshop is in Texas. It's not a factory floor with hundreds of workers and automated production lines. It's a workshop with CNC machines, carbon fiber presses, sanding stations, and an NFC programming bench. Every paddle moves through the same space, touched by the same hands.

This matters because it means we catch problems early. A factory producing 10,000 paddles per day relies on statistical sampling — a percentage passes inspection, and the rest are assumed good. We inspect every single unit because we can. Our production volume makes individual attention possible, and we consider that a feature, not a limitation.

Why We Build Paddles

The honest answer: we play pickleball, and we wanted a paddle that didn't exist. Every paddle we tried was either mass-produced with inconsistent quality, or marketed with buzzwords that didn't match the playing experience. So we built our own.

The first prototype was terrible. The second was worse. But by the time we hit version 15, we had something that felt right — a paddle with genuine carbon fiber bite, a core that balanced power and control, and an edge that wouldn't delaminate after two months of play.

Then we kept going. We added NFC chips so you'd never lose a paddle without a way to get it back. We built an app so organizing games wouldn't require a 47-message group text. We created a build process that we're proud to show publicly — because when you watch the videos, you can see the care that goes into every unit.

What's Next

We're constantly refining. New paddle designs are in development, QS Connect gets updates every few weeks, and our build process improves with every batch. We're a small team, but that means we can move fast — an idea at breakfast can be a prototype by lunch and in testing by dinner.

If you want to follow along, check out our blog for build updates, or follow us on Instagram and YouTube for behind-the-scenes content. And if you have feedback — on the paddles, the app, or this website — email us at support@quickshotpaddles.com. We read every message.
